The Association of American Geographers (AAG) is a nonprofit scientific and educational society founded in 1904. For 100 years the AAG has contributed to the advancement of geography. Its members from more than 60 countries share interests in the theory, methods, and practice of geography, which they cultivate through the AAG's Annual Meeting, two scholarly journals (Annals of the Association of American Geographers and The Professional Geographer), and the monthly AAG Newsletter.
The AAG promotes discussion among its members and with scholars in related fields, in part through the activities of its affinity groups and more than 60 specialty groups. The meetings and activities of our regional divisions provide the opportunity to network with colleagues near you.
I consider that this is a very classist and discriminating association, excludes the underdeveloped countries and to belong to it must be paid a monthly fee $20, a geographer in Venezuela could hardly afford

ResponderEliminarI think this is an organization that allows geographers to be updated and can learn new things with the help of other professionals from other countries, exchange ideas and give their views on various issues
ResponderEliminarIn think this kind of organization are important to grow up as professional and to learn for many people of other countries about their knowledge in different areas of geography. But we need to considerer the countries and people who don’t have financial resources to be part of these organization with scholarship and financial aid. Although the AAG have the program “sponsor a member” is not easy to donate 100 dollar or more, so I considered they need to evaluate other ways to help geographer from developing regions.

ResponderEliminarThis association arises with the need that there was feeling his founder William Morris Davis, for having an academic organization that was integrated by professionals of the geography and related others, for the exchange of ideas and improvements in the society. It is a shame that already as there mentions my companion Alexander be excluded to the underdeveloped countries or to be a part of this one rates are established, since the Davis's first intention was the incorporation of all, to see the different viewpoints, the methods of study, Contributions, between others.

In my opinion is of great importance such organizations that unfortunately our career despite being very complete and cover different areas of work is little known and even misconstrued. Commonly, if they ask you that you study and you answer a geography, is interpreted that you do to teach when really isn't so. I hope it continues sugiendo this organization and I am pleased to know that there are people like me love this race and want to take forward his name as he deserves.
